I don't know whether the teenagers of the present time have heard the name of Shibram Chakraborty or not. He was however , very popular writer during our boyhood. He was a man of fun in his writing. He is originally from Cachal Raj family, Maldaha.
His excellent autobiography in two parts namely Iswar- prithibi-Bhalobasha exhibit about his excellent life history. Those have not yet read they may read the same . Shibram at his tender age left his home and came to Calcutta and he had to struggle hard to earn his livelihood including hocker of newspapers.
Since then his address was Mukta ram Babu Street where a mess was situated and Shibram as a member continued till the last day of his life.
His daily life style was also very interesting. He was very fond of eating various types of Sweets and foods. He used to visit Restaurants and sweet shops very often. He used to record the addressees of his associates in the room's wall and the phone numbers were also recorded in the similar way.
He used to attend his guests by giving dry milk.Unfortunately poverty was his all through companion .
A film was made based on One of his novels "Bari theke paliye " by eminent film maker Rittik Kumar Ghatak .His one and only essay for elderly was "Moscow bonam Pondicherry " .
I had a pleasant experience One day of visiting his historic mess and I was astonished to see perhaps the simplest life style . And on that day a news was displayed in the newspaper in regard to sanction of a monthly pension by the central government for him.
I drew his attention in this regard but he expressed his doubt over the news . I don't know whether ultimately he received the same In view of the fact he died after some time.
An excellent writer for the teenagers. Despite his contributions he had to face poverty continuously. This is the most misfortune of Bengali literature. We shall never forget this outstanding writings.
