Crisis of writing correct English.

At the very outset I should  honestly admit that I am neither a student of English   literature nor strong in English.Still I feel
I may express my experience. Sometimes past I noticed an important news in a Bengali daily that the primary teachers should be given training how to teach teach English.
It suggests that basic weakness of English lies in the primarily level.

It is obvious that if the basic weakness is not repaired and  the same will automatically continue.

Let me come to the real picture.
My experience is very sad about writing correct English. I have come across a good number of graduates who unfortunately can not write a  single line in English correctly. It is surprising and disappointing as to how they obtained their bachelor degrees. It should be ascertained the reasons for such weakness and the requisite steps may be taken  from primary level of education to college.

One thing I may clearly mention that the graduates about whom I discussed they are all from  Bengali medium. At the same time I have also seen some students despite they are from Bengali medium they are capable in writing correct and good English.

Use of time expired medicine sticking new expiry date.

Today a dangerous news has been presented by both electronic and print media  and the same may be considered as the most criminal act at the same time  anti humanism and anti civilisation. Let us attract the news. Some time expired medicines sticking new expiry date are being sold in the market. It may be seen further what may happen by using the expired medicines. The gravity of the diseases may be more complicated and and even the patients may die.

The very incident proves the extent of our corruption and the extent of fall of our values and the question of our civilisation.

What is the remedy ? Major surgical operation is necessary for permanent cure.

Divorce an alarming social problem.

The gradual enhancement of divorce cases may be  ascertained from a
leading Bengali daily newspaper where on Sunday matrimonial advertisements are published. The reasons for such sudden increase may be explained best by the Lawyers who deal with the cases. It is very often said that lack of adjustment is one of the main reasons. But here a question may arise when a boy and girl come to close contact and a relationship grows for a long time and finally married but the same did not continue. In case of love marriage there is enough scope to know closely each other . It is surprising that many love marriage cases are ended .

Some times the marriage comes to an end through a long process and finally verdict of the court is announced for which both sides face lots of harassments and if the couple are having a child then the complications are likely to be more over the custody of the baby.

I feel during the time when the boy and girl mix they should not hide anything to avoid future complications. Surprisingly many love marriage cases are also discontinued. In case of negotiation marriage there are many reasons for divorce like big difference of education, big difference of culture, huge difference of financial status etc. These are all assumptions . No doubt the problem is a social one.

When the daughter returns permanently to her father's house various problems start. The rich and higher middle class families may face less problems due to their solvency while middle class families can also manage. The real problems lie with the low middle class and poor families. Surprisingly in both the families divorce have started considerably. Honourable judges always try their best for a reconciliation and sometimes they get success. Of course in some  cases it is blessing for both the parties but not for allthe cases.

It is my humble request to all couples kindly to not think over divorce in any circumstances and if necessary please kindly to think to avoid divorce if possible and proceed for a settlement.

Application of Unfair means in the examination Hall.

Very unfortunately it comes to notice from the newspapers that the incidents of copying in different places and in different examinations right from Madhyamik and the same leads to unrest. Indeed the situation is alarming . This malpractice was there earlier also.

There are   basic difference between the present time and past.At the present time large number of students apply copying openly and they demand publicly that they should be permitted to do  so and the presence of invigilators are immaterial and they behave in such a way that the same is the matter of right and the same affect the law and order situation also.

Previously very small number of students were involved and they  did it it in a very hidden way. Hence there should be no comparison between the present and past. It is surprising and highly disappointing picture of our education system and society.

A large number of students if pass in  this way they will be total burden of the society.

It is my humble prayer to the appropriate Authority kindly to take proper measures to cure from this epidemic diseases at the earliest.

Ritual function and eating arrangements after death of a person in Hindu religion.

After the death of a person some ritual functions are being done .At the same time eating arrangements are also being done.My question is about eating arrangements. It is surprising and disappointing that only after a short span after the death huge arrangements for eating are made. Rich people and high middle class people make huge arrangements for the eating purpose like marriage party .The problem lies with the lower middle class and poor people .For meeting the eating expenses they take loan or depend on charity.

My question is whether the practice of eating looks nice just after the death of the person?

I would request to the scholar persons and experts of Hinduism kindly to think over the matter of eating arrangements like marriage . I am personally out and out against of this convention and feel whether any civilisation permits the same.

Kawak Doctor .

I believe that the very word "kawak" Doctor is unknown to most of the people while they are the key persons in most of the villages specially in remote villages as they are the only  source of the villagers for getting their medical treatment in view of the fact that the primarily health centres are so far away from their villages.

As a result , those villagers are entirely dependent on Such doctors. Now the basic question is who  are they  kawak   doctors?

So far I have heard they have no formal education and basic idea of medical science and yet they are physicians and have been practising years after years.

I am also keen to know that the background which lead them to physicians. It is our extreme  misfortune that even after seventy years of independence a large section of people are wholly dependent on such unqualified persons.

It is my humble prayer to the appropriate authority kindly to find out a remedy and thus save lakhs of villagers.

Despite all the limitations the kawak Doctors are playing a key role in regard to medical treatment of a large number of villagers. At least it may be taken as granted they are capable of treating up to primary level and the villagers definitely get result and visit them.

My tribute to Kalika Prosad Bhattacharya.

The sudden death of Kalika Prosad Bhattacharya is like a bolt from the blue. This premature death has caused severe loss of  Bengali Folk music. He was making experiments in different ways. His incomplete work will possibly find no light.

It is extremely misfortune of the music world. He earned huge popularity as a folk singer within a short time. We had the opportunity to watch his performances through electronic media. Personally I am having a complete different assessment about him.To me he was  more a speaker than a singer .

I pay my heartfelt tribute to the sacred memory of Kalika Prosad.

Lawyers , a challenging profession.

In our subcontinent a good number of political leaders were Barrister like Mahatma Gandhi , Motilal Nehru ,Jahar lal Nehru ,M.A Jinnah ,julfikar Ali Bhutto, Umesh Chandra Banerjee, C.R.Das ,sarat  Bose ,jyoti Bose,Ashok Sen , Shankar Das Banerjee , Bhupesh Gupta and sidharta Sankar Roy etc.

It would be evident that Lawyers are very intelligent and their success depends on intelligence, presence of mind, knowledge of law, capacity to speak English fluently and Strong common sense. Apart from these appearance is also a factor.   Mainly two types of cases are held ,civil side and criminal side. Besides there are branches like tribunals, claim cases, labour cases, Industrial dispute cases ,central govt employee cases, Income tax and  sales tax cases and Divorce cases etc.

It is very difficult to get success in this profession.
It has been experienced that there is no hard and fast rule for the success. A good number of law years did very well in their examination but could not succeed while many did not well in the examination but in profession were successful.

Besides they are required to update their knowledge constantly , specially the judgements of  supreme court and all high courts.

The profession is so challenging that after winning a case they enjoy mental satisfaction like anything. It can't be denied that there are many flaws in our legal system yet many young men are joining this noble profession.

Kazi Nazrul Islam as I saw him.

Kazi Nazrul Islam all along lived in Kolkata yet I did not get any opportunity to visit his residence .Of course this was purely my responsibility. I should have taken initiative. Actually We built up a separate image about him by going through his poems in the school books .In reality Nazrul had turned into a different person who could not speak,  write ,walk etc.A person lived without any brain function. We were having his revolutionary image. I was therefore  not wiling to see second Nazrul .

However ,I changed  my mind in   1971 .At that time possibly he used to stay  at Christopher Road in a  small flat near CIT road.

In 1971 on account of his  birthday public were allowed to visit his flat. In order to visit his residence I reached  there at about seven and saw a big queue. I stood  there and after fifteen minutes I reached his flat and I was spell bound to see him wearing new dress he was seating surrounded by some women who were looking after.

That was my first and last look at him. This was a memorable day of my life.

The  professional hazards faced by the journalists .

Aparently the journalists  are regarded as most glamorous professional persons and also key persons of the country as if they fail to supply news then we shall be in dark.

Presently journalists are sharply divided in to camps .One section is engaged in electronic media and the other work in print media. But Both the  sections work under tremendous pressure.  They cover all the major incidents. They face problems from two sides .Very often it is found they are beaten by  a section of  Rowdy people.  For example they attend to cover the  fighting  of the two groups on behalf of their employers and they  expect the  best presentations at the earliest .

So many incidents happen every day including political. They cannot avoid a single one. As far as political news are concerned most of the political parties want to keep them same secret .It is the efficiency of a journalist to collect the same and at the earliest to get it printed in the respective newspaper or channel and In both the cases they will enjoy the credit for presenting the news at the earliest.
This is applicable in respect of all news which come to limelight.

From the above it may be appreciated tgat they work under tremendous pressure and competition with the fellow colleagues of the opposite camps. Thus when they visit to cover a news we may extent our cooperation to enable them to do the jobs . In many cases it is found that cameras of the photographers are either snatched or broken by the mob and the same are against civilisation. Besides in some occasions the reporters at the cost of the life risks try to cover any important and touchy news. They are bitten in such a way that they sometimes may  require to be admitted in hospitals.

These are all against civilisation and democracy. They have to take severe pains to collect the secret administrative decisions of the Govt. We should be respectful towards this noble profession.

The renowned journalists like Tushar Kanti Ghosh , Chapala kanto Bhattacharya , Bibekananda Mukherjee , Satyendra Narayan Mazumder etc. made significant contributions for the development of Bengali newspapers.

Poor success rate of chartered accountant examination.

I had the opportunity to see very closely some CA students. They were extremely sincere ,hard laborious , diligent and completely devotee to their studies and sacrificed all sorts of recreation and joy from their lives.

Apart from study they had no option to think any other matter. In view of the above any person may expect their success but unfortunately in reality the picture is completely reverse. I would therefore pray to the appropriate authority kindly to review the entire matter so that a large number of students get their due of unbelievable hard work.

It is my humble submission as a senior citizen of the country.

Indian population and tax payers.

Few days back an important news of the newspaper came to my notice to the effect that only one percent of the total population  are tax payers against  one hundred twenty core people.

If it is  so the scenario is highly disappointing and at the same time surprising. It suggests that only a small section of our vast country earns a reasonable amount.

But the reality possibly exhibits a different picture. The salaried people are bound to pay tax.
But a large section of people are engaged in small medium and big business. Apart from business a large number of people are engaged in different proffesions like Doctors, Advocates, Chartered accountants ,Tax consultants,Developers, painters , Engineers and Brokers of different categories ,  priests etc. If all these are clubbed automatically the percentage will be much higher.

Personally I feel a fear psychology works.
The tax rule should be as simple as possible so as to maximum section of people come within the purview of tax payments. As a result the tax collection will be increased considerably.

Our govt has to incur huge expenditure for the vast country and the job becomes easier if the collection is satisfactory.

It is my humble prayer to take up the job on war footing basis and thus to bring success of the national income.

The object possibly should be to bring those people under tax group who are presently out of tax payments .Thus the rate for the low income group should be much lower so that this low income group of people also pay tax and since they are the major section of the country it  will result in huge collection. Those who are presently tax payer for them the rate should not be reduced as they are capable of paying tax out of their earnings.

Michael Madhusudan Dutta , the most colourful character of 18th century.

At the very outset I should honestly admit that it would be my audacity to discuss the literary work of Michael Madhusudan Dutta. I shall try to discuss  Madhusudan Dutta as a person.

Personally I think he was born in Bengal much early. As  He was much advanced in comparison to our prevailing society. He was born in a conservative Hindu family of Jessore while he was attracted towards
Christian religion  and changed religion from Hinduism to Christian despite the severe objections by his parents.
He didn't listen to them and left the family and was deprived from the family property.

He was a brilliant person having sound knowledge about Hinduism despite the fact he left the same. He had been  to England to be a Barrister. After passing Bar at law he returned to the country but unfortunately he was not successful in Law practice.

He however , served in different places. He was  an extremely extravagant person and was in the habit of leading a luxurious life and as a result he had to face frequent hardships.

In family life unfortunately he did not enjoy happiness. As a result he married  twice. While he was in foreign country he was about to face starvation but Iswar Chandra Vidya Sagar  came forward to help him.

He was attacked with various illness and  ultimately expired only at the age of forty eight .

A talented person like him was rarely born in Bengal. He is our pride and fortunately His grave is situated in Kolkata where we may pay our Respect to him.

Whether astrology can be supported ?

There have been lot of debates in regard to acceptability or refusing the same. The matter has not yet been solved. Some questions automatically arise whether they can forecast the happenings  of future of anybody and also change the fate of any person . If it is so then it can be taken as granted how powerful they are! They can change the society and  fate of everybody. They can prescribe stones which they do and thus remove illnesses of everybody and can solve unemployment problems and every student will get success.

Even if it is so all doctors and few lakhs of persons who are associated with medical system will be unemployed. Few lakhs of private teachers along with coaching staffs will be unemployed. In reality is it possible? The astrologer argue when  a baby is born his or her fate immediately is determined in view of location of the planets. It may be argued at the same moment thousand of babies were born in a hospital in future all the babies should carry same fate .

I had an opportunity to see some astrologers suffered a lot in personal life and the same should have not happened in view of the fact the remedies were in their hands.

Lastly I will complete with an advice of Swamiji who advised in stead of going to Astrologer take rest and also take good food. I should categorically mention these arguments are not  of mine and the same were the outcome of debate. I will leave the subject to the Respected viewers for their kind consideration .

Some Passengers travel without tickets by local trains.

I had long experience to travel by local trains from both Howrah and Sealdaha stations .Unfortunately it came to my notice that a large section of passengers regularly travel without tickets and their strategies are to move in small groups and most of them keep some money with them and so as to utilise the same  for penalty if they were caught and their calculations are even they pay the same and for only one day the  rest days of the month they will travel without tickets. Thus they could save a substantial amount.

It would be evident from the above for these act of dishonesty the Indian Railways suffers huge revenue loss every year. It is also true a small group of passengers also travel without ticket but they are compelled to do as they are very poor.

It is my humble request to the Railway authorities to take up the matter very seriously and try to sort out the problem on war footing basis and thus save Railways from the said loss.
